Process Modeling Intern Summer and Fall 2024 – ADM

Job description This role will use engineering expertise to create computational models of industrial-scale chemical and biochemical processes that are of current interest to ADM. These models will predict the behavior of unit operations involved in the production of bio-based foods and chemicals or other agricultural-based products that are currently used in the chemical process industry. Candidates should be proficient at applying chemical engineering principles and knowledge to solve real-life, industrial-scale plant operation and process development challenges. They will use modeling languages and environments, such as Aspen Plus suite, Excel, Crystal Ball, Python, and Visual Basic. The models will be used for process optimization and cost estimation, and they will help to guide process development design and decision-making. The position also involves extensive communication, both written and verbal, with other scientists and engineers at various ADM locations. This is a minimum of a six (6) month position. The internship may extend beyond the 6-month period if interest, performance and business need allow. Full-time hours will be limited to a period of six (6) months, after which any contract extension would be limited to part-time hours (<32/week). Job Requirements The ideal candidate will have recently obtained a Chemical Engineering or similar Bachelor’s degree, or will be currently enrolled as a graduate student (after obtaining a Chemical Engineering or similar degree). A candidate may also be currently enrolled with senior standing in undergraduate Chemical Engineering curriculum as of Fall 2023 or earlier. The chosen candidate can work either full- or part-time and will be required to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, with at least 75% of hours worked between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Full-time hours will be limited to a period of six (6) months. COMMUNICATIONS ETC INTERNSHIP: In the Communications ETC Internship at Synchrony, you’ll work closely with our teams to identify and implement breakthrough changes. Your Responsibilities As a Part Time Student – Electrification Application Engineering for John Deere Power Systems located in Champaign, IL you will: Work with other engineers to define and develop the engineering requirements of electric drive components, including motors, generators, active rectifiers, inverters, convertors, batteries, high voltage wiring, and connectors. Work with other engineers to define and develop the engineering requirements of electric drive systems, including traction systems, secondary drive systems, power management systems, auxiliary drives, and precision control systems. Design electric drive system interfaces and specify the related vehicle systems to meet the vehicle requirements. Complete technical analysis and physical testing of electric drive components, including electric machines, power conversion electronics, and harnesses. Design motor control and system control algorithms for electric drives and vehicles.
