Position Description: Information Research (IR) is the technology group that supports businesses across AbbVie’s R&D value chain. IR Academic Partnerships (IRAP) embeds students within AbbVie businesses to collaborate on projects that help advance our science. During the regular fall and winter/spring terms, this program is designed for students to work 12-15 hours/week in parallel with their school schedule. During the summer, students are expected to work 35-40 hours/week. We are seeking a visual designer to work with a variety of AbbVie internal businesses on a range of creative projects. This role would serve in a consulting capacity at AbbVie by meeting with internal clients and providing visual design services. While the specific skills and duties would vary by project, the ideal candidate would have a range of skillsets and a proven track record delivering high-quality products. The Technical Writer will be supporting the OS Platform Engineering team with duties related to the mac environment transition from JAMP to Intune. With this migration, knowledge articles (e.g. how to guides and information) for AbbVie’s mac users will need to be updated or created to reflect the change in environment. Major responsibilities would include: Assessing existing knowledge articles for the mac environment Providing recommendations on what knowledge articles to retain, what to adjust, and what needs to be replaced. Qualifications:  Undergraduate student in English, UI/UX, or other majors with technical writing experience Basic technical knowledge Experience writing for professional audiences; ideal candidate would have some exposure to writing on technical topics Strong communication skills and attention to detail Excellent communication and presentation skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously Creative problem solver with ability to understand larger picture without losing focus on details Willingness to engage in independent learning of a wide array of fields Organized and conscientious problem solver Self-starter who takes initiative in overcoming challenges and suggesting potential solutions Willingness to collaborate and actively engage in independent learning and open discussion Must be able to commit to a regular schedule during standard business hours (12-15 hours per week during the semester; 35-40 hours during the summer) Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent Authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring future visa sponsorship Must be registered as a full-time student UIUC students are expected to work 50% of their hours in person at our site in Research Park. Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin Spring 2024, with an option to continue through the following semesters, depending on performance and project funding.
