Position Title: AI Business Process Optimization Analyst Hours per week: 12-15 hours/week during academic year 35-40 hours/week during summer term Position Description: Within the BTS (Business Technology Solutions), the Business Platforms domain stands out as a key strategic function responsible for managing and optimizing technology platforms that support AbbVie’s diverse business operations. This team works closely with various internal stakeholders, including business leaders, researchers, scientists, and other functional teams, to understand their needs and deliver innovative IT solutions that drive operational efficiency and business growth. One of the key focus areas of the IT Business Platforms team is to ensure seamless integration and interoperability across different systems and applications used within AbbVie. This requires the team to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the organization’s business processes and workflows, enabling them to identify opportunities for optimization and automation. By streamlining these processes, IT Business Platforms enhances collaboration, reduces redundancy, and drives productivity across the company. BTS Business Platforms teams also play critical roles in driving digital transformation initiatives at AbbVie. We are actively explore emerging technologies and trends, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to identify innovative solutions that can revolutionize the biopharmaceutical industry. Through our efforts, we aim to empower AbbVie with cutting-edge capabilities that accelerate research and development, enhance patient care, and create new business opportunities. We are seeking an undergraduate student to optimize our BTS business platforms team’s workflows by leveraging AbbVie’s internal large language model (LLM) AI capabilities and tools. This is not a coding or software development position. Rather, we are looking for a motivated, critical thinker who has an understanding of AI tools to identify areas in daily business processes that can be optimized with AI, and then helping create and refine AI prompts that can be used by our Business Platforms analysts to aid in their work. Major duties include: · Work with the BTS business platforms team to identify processes that can be optimized using AbbVie’s internal large language model AI capabilities and tools prioritizing reproducibility, accuracy, and simplicity. · Work with different teams to gather requirements for the identified processes. · Testing how different AI prompts and inputs generate outputs and evaluating these outputs according to business needs. · Develop proof-of-concept projects to optimize the identified processes by testing out different prompts and evaluating responses. These projects may include but are not limited to POCs that optimize: creating UAT (User Acceptance Test) scripts, User Stories, PowerPoint Presentations, SLC (System Life Cycle) documentation, data/system mapping, business communications, RCEs, workflow diagrams, and Wireframe documents using different sources such as meeting notes, requirements documents, video recordings, and transcripts. Qualifications: · Organized and conscientious problem solver with the ability to find, evaluate, and synthesize information. · Self-starter who takes initiative in overcoming challenges and suggesting potential solutions. · Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. · Creative problem solver with ability to understand larger picture without losing focus on details. · Willingness to engage in independent learning of a wide array of fields. · Willingness to collaborate and actively engage in independent learning and open discussion. · Familiarity with AI large language model concepts and commercial tools. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. · Must be able to commit to a regular schedule during standard business hours (12-15 hours per week during the semester; 35-40 hours during the summer) · Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent · Majoring in English, Information Science, Data Science, or other fields with demonstrated experience and interest. · Authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring future visa sponsorship. · Must be registered as a full-time student. · UIUC students are expected to work 50% of their hours in person at our site in Research Park.
