EnterpriseWorks held a fireside chat with LaTonya Wilkins author of “Leading Below the Surface” on Friday, October 15, 2021. Wilkins is a diversity and inclusion coach and wrote her book to prompt thoughtful discussion on how to achieve diverse, equitable, and inclusive cultures of belonging in the workplace.

Research Park celebrated the grand opening of the newly constructed Brunswick i-Jet Lab. This larger lab will allow room to grow and collaborate as Brunswick i-Jet continues their focus on generating creative solutions in boating autonomy, connectivity and electrification.

The Research Park gathered on National Intern Day (July 29, 2021) to celebrate the most outstanding interns across its 120+ companies at the 15th annual Intern Awards, the longest-running event in the Research Park. Learn more about the winners.

Fire at Five Happy Hour and Bonfire is an event open to Research Park employees and their families and friends. This event occurs on the last Friday of every month between May and October and includes food, activities, and music.  Some of the themes from 2010’s virtual Fire at Fives include Game Night, Scavenger Hunt, Ice Cream Social, and Pet Picnic. On March 10, 2021, the Agriculture Technology Innovation Summit 2021 highlighted new innovations and challenges facing the agtech industry. With over 500 attendees and 20 different companies, several professionals came together to discuss important topics such as the Ag sector’s role in carbon markets, emerging disruption in agriculture, and much more. AgTech startups such as EarthSense and  Aspiring Universe also participated in this event. The eigth annual Big Data Summit brought together thought leaders from the University of Illinois Research Park, industry, and academia for a highly interactive event to address big questions surrounding big data. Just as new information technologies and the Internet itself fundamentally transformed business and industrial competitiveness over the past 25 years, big data is posed to bring the next wave of innovation, productivity, and growth. The coupling of big data and advanced analytics has the potential to raise efficiency and create value in almost all business sectors. Taking advantage of big data and advanced analytics enables companies to create new products and services, enhance existing ones, and invent entirely new business, models.

Each year, the Research Park celebrates the hard work and dedication of its interns during the Summer Intern Awards. On July 28, 2020, the Research Park community had the chance to pick up complimentary food from Jurassic Grill and Just Get It Grill before virtually joining the awards ceremony. These University of Illinois students honored as finalists and winners come from a variety of academic backgrounds, exemplifying the interdisciplinary work that occurs at the Park. The Research Park community continues to innovate and grow, whether people are working from home or from the office. Work Flex 2020 is an ongoing campaign that celebrates the work of outstanding individuals in the Park. Any community member of the Research Park can be highlighted, including current student interns, their supervisors, and Site Directors. We think it’s important to share what you do, big and small, because your impact always matters.
