Yahoo! created a new 40,000 sq feet building to expand their team at Research Park in 2014. This expansion is imperative to growing the relationship between University of Illinois students and the technology industry through Research Park.

The first Women in Tech Luncheon, a networking event for women in the Champaign-Urbana, was held in 2014 and featured Ann Peedikayil, a data scientist from Caterpillar,  was the first keynote speaker. Later, Designer-in-Residence, Deana McDonagh, spoke to a group of women who represented over 15 companies in Champaign-Urbana.

The second annual Big Data Summit brought together thought leaders from the UIRP, industry, and academia for a highly interactive event to address big questions surrounding big data. Just as new information technologies and the Internet itself fundamentally transformed business and industrial competitiveness over the past 25 years, big data is posed to bring the next wave of innovation, productivity, and growth. The coupling of big data and advanced analytics has the potential to raise efficiency and create value in almost all business sectors. Taking advantage of big data and advanced analytics enables companies to create new products and services, enhance existing ones, and invent entirely new business, models.

The expansion of Fourth Street from St. Mary’s Road to Windsor Road opens in 2013 expanding the space for Research Park buildings.

Take a step back in time to explore the construction of the 43,000 square foot EnterpriseWorks incubator. EnterpriseWorks opened in June of 2003 and has since incubated many science and technology startups. Now there are over 100 tenants within EnterpriseWorks, several conferences, and hundreds of interns working across Research Park.  Alumni of EnterpriseWorks also created successful technology companies recognized by top businesses.  EnterpriseWorks is still gaining popularity and supporting more technology start-ups in the Champaign Urbana area.
