Primary Location: United States (US) – Illinois – Champaign Function: Communication Title: Part-Time Student-Research Specialist-Champaign IL – 95952 Onsite/Remote:Onsite Position The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND. Your Responsibilities · Conduct academic and scientific literature research for a wide variety of business domains including: agriculture, engineering, and technology · You will utilize business databases and publicly available resources to research companies, technologies, business issues, and identify internal and external data sources for agricultural projects · You will document the resources, synthesize the information, and present it in professional reports and presentations This position is available to students on immigration visas. What Skills You Need · Ideally you will currently be in a Master’s or PhD program in Agriculture, Business, Communication, English, Library & Information Science; others may apply · Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. local accredited college/university · Graduation date of December 2023 or later · Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above · Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly · Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly · Must be able to commute to the work location in Champaign, Illinois on a daily basis year-round · Experience using a variety of search techniques to find information resources · Experience synthesizing information and presenting findings using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint · Ability to evaluate information resources for validity and relevance What Makes You Stand Out · Experience using online databases: Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE, ScienceDirect, JSTOR, etc · Experience with patent searching and intellectual property issues · Knowledge of technology standards (ANSI, ASTM, SAE, etc.) · Knowledge of the agriculture or construction industry · Ability to take initiative and work independently · Enthusiasm to learn advanced topics in agriculture · A strong amount of organization What You’ll Get At John Deere, you are empowered to create a career that will take you to where you want to go while working in an inclusive team environment.
