Communications & Social Media Intern – Research Park – Summer 2023

The Communications and Social Media intern will be part of the University of Illinois Research Park and EnterpriseWorks team to highlight the exciting things happening at the Park.  Who We Are  Research Park is a technology hub for corporate operations focusing on innovative, cutting-edge research and development. EnterpriseWorks is an award-winning incubator at the Research Park that focuses on science and research-based start-up companies commercializing technology from the University of Illinois. We have a multifaceted team of professionals and interns dedicated to helping our startups and corporations thrive in the Research Park. Our previous interns have gone on to work at companies including but not limited to: Google, Facebook, IBM, PepsiCo, Goldman Sachs, Denodo, Allstate, Yelp, Solstice, and Surface 51.   What You’ll Do The Communications and Social Media Intern will demonstrate their excellent written and verbal communication skills by writing news stories that highlight exciting things happening at the Research Park, crafting tweets and other social media posts that are enticing, yet specific, and working with graphic designers to create materials to promote events. They will collaborate and coordinate with Research Park leadership and the EnterpriseWorks intern team to ensure timely marketing/branding and promotions of jobs, events, and news through appropriate platforms. An intern will be able to propose new and innovative ways to increase Research Park’s brand awareness in the community and campus and manage ongoing communications projects such as weekly announcements and monthly student newsletters. In addition, the intern will ensure that information on the Research Park website, calendars, and all social media platforms is up to date and correct. Along with internal projects, interns will be able to participate in client projects for Research Park startups including website development, social media strategy, pitch decks, and more.  *This position will begin in June 2023 and will continue throughout the summer. There is an option for the position to continue through Fall 2023. Academic Partnerships sits within AbbVie’s IT organization and supports AbbVie business technology organizations by collaborating with leading research universities, top students, and faculty to assist AbbVie in the fields of market research, software development, data sciences, communications, and visual design. The Market Research Team (MRT) is one student-enabled capability we offer to our AbbVie colleagues. It is an internal student consulting team consisting of 6-8 undergraduate students in Business, Engineering or related fields that is operated through the AbbVie Innovation Center at the University of Illinois Research Park. MRT works with internal AbbVie businesses on a range of consulting projects across the organization – including but not limited to vendor evaluations, industry benchmarking, and strategy & thought leadership.  The MRT was established in 2017 and has conducted over 70+ projects across AbbVie to date. The Consulting Team Coordinator will provide mentorship and guidance to the MRT project teams and existing projects. They will help organize each team’s consulting workflows and provide timely support, mentorship, and project management in the coordination of consulting activities. The Coordinator will also coach and develop students participating in the MRT.   This position would be onsite (located in Champaign, IL) and will last for 1 year (Summer 2023 – Spring 2024). In This Role You Will In this position, you’ll be part of a unique team at Graybar who focuses on delivering effective innovations through physical and digital solutions. You will use data to inform business decisions related to new and/or existing products & services across the organization. You’ll also be involved from project inception to design through delivery, ensuring that your reports are delivering high-quality and relevant data so that our business can grow intelligently. Programming experience (e.g., Python, R, JavaScript, etc.) and familiarity with version control. Experience with product management (i.e., taking a data product or tool from initial scoping to delivery and adoption) Data warehousing experience (e.g., storage methods/formats, data modeling, architecture and design). Experience creating visualizations and dashboards that surface business insights. Experience in manipulating and curating data from a variety of systems. Experience engaging with stakeholders while managing scope effectively in a fast moving environment. Excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences and to respond dynamically to questions and comments from leadership.
