Research Park Human Resources Internship – Spring & Summer 2020
Do you like interpersonal relationships? Do you want to develop your decision-making skills? The Human Resources intern will be part of the University of Illinois Research Park team to support the growth of the workforce in the Research Park. The position will directly assist internal efforts with a wide range of projects related to planning and recruiting, management and strategy, programming and event planning in the progression of a talent pipeline, and the development of new initiatives and programs that retain and grow the technology workforce in the Research Park. The University of Illinois Research Park is a technology hub for corporate operations focusing on innovative, cutting edge research and development. EnterpriseWorks is an award-winning incubator at the Research Park that focuses on science and research-based start-up companies commercializing technology from the University of Illinois. We have a multifaceted team of professionals and interns dedicated to helping our startups and corporations thrive in the Research Park. Previous University of Illinois Research Park interns have gone onto work at companies including but not limited to: Korn Ferry, Google, Facebook, IBM, Denodo, All State, Blue Bunny, Conversant, Yelp, Leo Burnett, Solstice, and Surface 51. What You’ll Do As a Human Resource Intern, you will be responsible of various internal and external projects for EnterpriseWorks and Research Park. This includes managing the Research Park Job Board which consists of communicating with over 100 companies at Research Park, representing Research Park at multiple Career Fairs and campus recruiting events, updating EnterpriseWorks Intern Onboarding Manual and Company Recruitment Guide, organize hiring process of EnterpriseWorks Interns which includes promoting positions and screening interviews. The ideal candidate will be able to have excellent communication, organization and management skills. It is important to have interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with Research Park companies and EnterpriseWorks staff. This position will begin training at the beginning of Spring 2020 and will continue throughout the semester into Summer 2020, up to 40 hours per week. Eligibility Requirements: You MUST meet these requirements to be eligible for this internship. Graduation date of May 2021 or later Must be a full-time enrolled student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign at the time of employment Must be available to work 40 hours/week during Summer 2020. Must be available to begin training immediately during Spring 2020 semester at 10-20 hours/week Qualifications: Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills Strong ability to take initiative and work autonomously Ability to successfully manage and organize teams Able to work on a deadline, handle multiple projects and think creatively Able to work in a fast-paced environment independently and in team setting Nice to have: Students from the School of Labor and Employer Relations or Human Resource Development preferred HR experience in any student organization or other organization Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Preference will be given to candidates that can continue through the Fall 2020/Spring 2021 academic year For your application, please prepare: Resume Cover letter explaining how your experience makes you a good fit for this position Business Writing Sample Click here to apply online Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, we are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
