John Deere Part Time Student Spatial Data/GIS Research – Spring & Summer 2020
As a Spatial Data/GIS Researcher at the John Deere Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC), you will manage geospatial data on a wide variety of agricultural topics. You will use GIS tools to process data sets for documentation and in preparation for statistical analysis. You will help develop professional reports on outcomes What It Takes Ability to process spatial data sets using closed or open source GIS software (e.g. ESRI, QGIS) proficiently Ability to assemble and organize data sets in a coherent and professional manner Ability to work autonomously and as part of a global team Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) proficiently Pursuing upper undergraduate or graduate degree Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis Graduation date May 2021 – requirement of the program is you are available to work a minimum of 12 months prior to graduation Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above 16 – 20 hours/week during the academic year 35 – 40 hours/week during the summer semester A Strong Candidate Will Also Have Ability to program, preferably in languages such as Python Knowledge and/or experience with agricultural data sets Awareness of statistical methods for data analysis What You’ll Get At John Deere, you are empowered to create a career that will take you to where you want to go.
