2023 INTERN AWARDS On Thursday, July 25, the Research Park celebrated its 17th annual Summer Intern Awards Ceremony and Picnic. This year, there were six awards presented to student interns from across the Park’s 120+ companies to honor and recognize them for their outstanding work. These interns have left long-lasting impacts on our companies through their diligence and innovation. Thank you to the managers and supervisors who nominated their interns. 2023 TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT The Annual Research Park Table Tennis Tournament made a return to EnterpriseWorks this summer for its 12th year on June 27 and 28. The results of Round-Robin games on day one were used to seed participants for the single-elimination tournament played on day two. In these games, companies were awarded points based on the placing of their players, leading to Yahoo! securing the Golden Paddle Trophy for earning the most points for their company. FIRE @ FIVE 2023 Fire @ Five Happy Hour and Bonfire is an event open to Research Park employees and their families and friends. This event occurs on Thursdays towards the end of every month between May and October and includes food, activities, and music. Some of the Fire at Five themes from 2023 include Pride in the Park, Carnival, Hispanic Heritage Month Fiesta, and Back to School Beach Party. RESEARCH PARK CAREER FAIR 2023 On February 28, 2023, Research Park held a career fair to connect Park employers with students from the University of Illinois. Multiple job opportunities are open year-round, and students from any major and discipline are invited to apply. The Research Park Career Fair helps form connections between the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Champaign-Urbana area, and the Research Park. GENECTIVE LAB SPACE EXPANSION 2022 Genective, a global biotech solutions company, celebrated the Phase 2 expansion of its current lab space at Research Park in August 2022. The company added 30 percent more lab space to help accommodate its work in the agtech industry. Genective specializes in the research, development, and commercialization of transgenic traits, specifically insect-resistant corn. The company manages to work across the value chain to create, deregulate and commercialize biotech corn traits. The added space will help the company to cultivate its innovative work in the biotech industry. 14 images Share
