Amber Agriculture, a University of Illinois student startup with ties to EnterpriseWorks, has been named the top startup of the 2017 Consumer Electronic Show (CES).

Amber Agriculture's agtech product helps farmers manage their stored product, and is part of the connected farm movement.

CHAMPAIGN— The News-Gazette's Paul Wood sat down with Jean Paul Allain for his Wired In column this week. Jean Paul is the president, founder, and CEO of Editekk, an early-stage start-up with a revolutionary process for manipulating surfaces and interfaces at the atomic level. Editekk came to the EnterpriseWorks incubator this past March.

CHAMPAIGN -- Aptimmune Biologics was selected by The Yield Lab, a St. Louis-based agriculture technology business accelerator and investor, to participate in a nine-month program designed to support emerging ag tech companies. Aptimmune Biologics was chosen from among 120 applicants to participate in the program for 2016 and represents The Yield Labs first animal health investment.

CHAMPAIGN -- Veriflow Systems was selected as the Barclays "Innovation Challenge Winner," beating out over 100 competing companies. This event is held to assess the latest technologies that are likely to drastically impact the banking scene in the future. Veriflow, a Research Park startup planted in EnterpriseWorks, is the first networking company to use continuous network verification to eliminate network outages and vulnerabilities.

CHAMPAIGN— The News-Gazette's Paul Wood interviewed Landon Frye, the market manager of Granular, for his Wired In column. Granular is a software and analytics platform that helps farmers operate more efficiently and make better business decisions about efficiency, yields and profits while managing their environmental footprint. Granular is joining forces with other agriculture brands like John Deere to grow their company.

CHAMPAIGN -- Veriflow Systems, an EnterpriseWorks tenant, was announced as a finalist for the 15th annual Chicago Innovation Awards. The Chicago Innovation Awards is the largest annual celebration of innovation in the Midwest. Chicago’s business and civic leaders come together to honor the Chicago region by recognizing the most innovative new products and services introduced in the region. There were 100 companies selected as finalists out of the 643 applicants.

CHAMPAIGN -- PhotoniCare, an EnterpriseWorks startups that aims to revolutionize healthcare by providing physicians with better diagnostic tools, has been accepted into the Dreamit Accelerator program. This program is for edtech and digital health startups with a product ready to deploy and some early traction. Out of hundreds of applicants, PhotoniCare was one of 17 accepted.
