What we need to see: BS or MS in EE, CE, CS, or Systems Engineering. 3+ years of experience in a related hardware/software position is always a plus. Excellent problem solving, collaborative, and interpersonal skills. Experience working with international teams preferred. Strong C/C++ knowledge required. Strong understanding of algorithms, computer architecture, silicon speed and power, BIOS, drivers, and software applications. Familiarity with computer algorithms, object oriented programming, data structures, and design patterns. The National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center for Power Optimization of Electro-Thermal Systems (POETS) is soliciting applications for the position of Senior Research Engineer or Research Engineer focused on prototyping and testing electrified power systems including thermal management. Extensive sub-system and system of new technologies prior to deploying them commercially. This position will report to the POETS Director and will be located at the POETS test facility, a new space developed in the Research Park at Illinois. POETS’ long-term goal is to increase the power density of current mobile electrified systems by 10-100 times over current state of the art systems. While ambitious, this would have a profound impact on a mobile electrified infrastructure of the U.S. and beyond. On-highway vehicles could save between 100-300 million liters of fuel per year and could nearly double the range of all- electric vehicles. Off-highway vehicles could save approximately 100 billion liters of fuel since their electrification is starting from a less mature point than current on-highway vehicles. Similarly, aircraft could see 10-30 billion liters of fuel saved as well as up to 10 million tons of CO2 saved from going into the high-altitude atmosphere. Summary Genective, a JV between two leading global seed companies, Limagrain and KWS, is seeking a detail-oriented and dexterous Entomology Assay Biologist to join our fast-growing team. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary program focused on the discovery, biological characterization, development, and commercialization of novel insect control traits. The candidate will be responsible for supporting and carrying out screening of putative insecticidal proteins against relevant agronomic corn insect pests in artificial diet bioassays in a collaborative and transparent environment. The Assay Biologist will conduct experiments to continuously improve, optimize, and validate the whole organism bioassays, delivering high quality data yielding robust and reproducible results. Data capture, data analysis, and clear communication in both oral and written updates on experimental procedures and results will be required. The Assay Biologist will directly report to of the Head of In Vitro Entomology. The successful candidate will be a contributing member to the larger functional entomology group.
