Labsimply was a part of Y Combinator (S21) batch and has raised a large seed round with OMX Ventures as lead. LabSimply is focusing on developing CRISPR powered molecular diagnostics to bring PCR accuracy to provide rapid results at the point-of-care. The individuals will work with a team of scientists and engineers on development of cutting edge CRISPR-powered new assays and devices for early detection of infections for a broad range of markets including hospitals, at-home, and others. This position will allow development of core skills in Diagnostic assay and device development, deep expertise and know-how of CRISPR enzymes and scalable product development for commercial use. The team is taking the technology from the bench to commercial applications where the technology and products have potential impact to save resources and lives across the world. Position Requirements BS degree or higher in Bioengineering, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry or appropriate scientific disciplines. An Associate Degree in lieu of experience would also be considered. The candidate must be able to work 40 hours per week starting as soon as possible, well versed in basic microbiology techniques (pipetting, centrifuging, etc.), and possess working knowledge of PCR, immunoassays, and fundaments of microbiology. ADM Modeling Center Intern – Spring 2022

The engineering modeling intern will use engineering skills to create models of industrial chemical and biochemical processes that are of current interest to ADM. These models will predict the behavior of unit operations involved in the production of bio-based chemicals, or other agricultural-based products, currently used in the chemical process industry. Applicants should be proficient at applying chemical engineering principles and knowledge to solve real-life, industrial-scale plant operation and process development challenges. The modeling intern will use modeling languages and environments such as Aspen Plus suite, Excel, Crystal Ball, Python, and Visual Basic. The models will be used for process optimization and estimation and will help to guide process development design and decision-making. The position also involves extensive communication, both written and verbal, with other scientists and engineers at various ADM locations. This is a 6-month position, which may be extended based on business need and intern performance.  Full time hours will be limited to a period of 6 months, after which time any contract extension will be limited to part time hours (<32/week) Job Requirements: The ideal applicant will have recently obtained a Chemical Engineering or similar degree or be currently enrolled as a graduate student. Candidates may also be currently enrolled with senior standing in undergraduate Chemical Engineering curriculum in Spring 2022 or earlier. Description The Engineering Specialist -System Structural Engineer – Validate and participates in the concept and design of complex engineering structures for release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. Job Duties may include but are not limited to : Performs complex analysis work, identifies design problems, and resolves problems Provide machine-level structural simulation to achieve durability targets for new product development programs  Provide data processing of test data for the objective of validating simulation models Support product health using technical expertise of simulation model and product knowledge in proactively addressing field performance Contributes to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: Keep up to date on new technologies or develop new technologies; Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other units; Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers and suppliers Provide Python scripting for automated data processing, visualizations and machine learning Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science field plus 13+ years of experience; OR Master’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science field plus 9+ years of experience Progressive engineering work experience required Proficiency with FE simulations and fatigue analysis Proficiency with machine level simulations and multibody dynamics Top Candidates will also have Excellent analytical skills Ability to perform complex assignments Self-starter with strong technical leadership skills Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other units, customers, and suppliers Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience in structural simulation Prior experience working within a new product development program Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities as needs arise Additional Information The location for this position is Champaign, IL Domestic relocation is available for this position.
