Overview We are looking for experienced and motivated software engineers to help build a highly scalable and robust next-generation Big Data stack to power Yahoo’s data processing needs. The qualified engineer would work on one or more of the following open source projects: Hadoop Core, Storm, Spark, Flink, or Zookeeper. Yahoo’s Big Data stack powers the most demanding Big Data applications in the industry. These applications run on some of the largest Hadoop clusters ever built! 50,000 nodes strong and several multi-thousand node clusters bring scalable computing to a whole new level. Yahoo pioneered this level of scale with Hadoop and continues to be a key leader in this space. If you love to solve complex and challenging problems, can work independently, and want to participate in some of the most exciting open source projects, we want to hear from you!. If you want to work with Hadoop, Storm, or Spark and get a deep understanding of cloud computing, this is the job for you. As a software engineer in Yahoo’s Big Data team, you will work alongside the leaders in these open source projects. The team is made up of several PMCs (Program Management Committee members) and Committers in these key Apache open source projects. This leadership position keeps Yahoo in the forefront of these projects both directionally and technically. Working in this sort of open source environment is an amazing opportunity to learn from the best; AND to immediately begin contributing to some of the most active Apache projects. Job Qualifications: B.S. in Computer Science equivalent or higher with solid academic background Excellent problem-solving skills with top of the class computer science knowledge Strong object-oriented programming skills in C++/Java 5+ years experience in software development Must be able to independently develop high quality components of the system Fast learner, who can quickly come up to speed with different technologies & develop prototypes as required Excellent verbal, written, and communication/presentation skills Excellent debugging/testing skills, and excellent analytical and problem solving skills About Yahoo Yahoo is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
