Research Park Illinois Reboot – Technical Training Graduate Internship – Spring 2023

The University of Illinois Research Park is recruiting a graduate student hourly worker to provide teaching and organizational support for ILLINOIS REBOOT, a free virtual coding pre-academy that exposes community participants to technical skill fundamentals and provides coaching and mentoring from local tech professionals. This position will be asked to provide technical training and support the Spring 2023 cohort of Reboot 1.0, which will take place from April-June 2023. ILLINOIS REBOOT program description: Program participants will gain a foundation in data science literacy, through introductions to the following topics: UNIX, SQL, Python, GitHub, and Agile project management principles. The curriculum is based on Software Carpentry courses. This program specifically seeks to encourage a more diverse and inclusive tech community in Central Illinois, and benefit those who have been adversely affected by the economic factors of COVID-19. The cohort will be composed of professionals (as opposed to current University students) looking to upskill or transition to a different career path. Program applicants are not required to have programming skills and experience to participate, but we are asking that they have familiarity with technology and data. This program is funded by an EDA CARES Recovery Act Assistance Award and a generous sponsorship by American Family Insurance. Food Science Intern – ADM

Role Description Join us at our *brand new* facility in the UIUC Research Park! The Food Science intern will use their creativity and analytical skill establish programs to explore and establish knowledge using Food 3D printing technology. The instrument will be used to unlock ingredient knowledge and build competency of food structure and ingredient functionality and its characteristic to apply through 3D printing model to develop future food innovation. Applicants should have a good fundamental understanding of food science principle, food chemistry, sensory and including food laboratory skills. Food Science intern will lead independently to plan, organize, and execute a broad range of procedures to complete technical information utilizing 3D printer, extruding edible pastes into precision shapes as determined. The Food Science intern will also be assigned to take on other administrative tasks to support S&T UIUC facility at Research park as needed. The intern must demonstrate their ability to work independently with minimal level of supervision, creative thinking with analytical approach, having an open mindset to explore in new space to identifying opportunities to solve problem. The selected candidate must have great communication skill and he/she will be working very closely both written and verbal, with other scientists and other cross functional at various ADM locations, including both inside and outside ADM. Positions are filled on a semester-by-semester basis. This position will continue through the end of the summer and may be offered for additional semesters depending on work demand and intern performance. Job Requirements: The ideal applicant will have recently obtained a B.Sc. and/or Post graduate degree within Food Science and Human Nutrition or similar disciplinary work experience. Candidates may also be currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program in Food Science and Human Nutrition at UIUC. This position will be part time when class is in session. Full time hours may be available during breaks and summer semester. In order to allow collaboration with other Science and Technology colleagues at ADM, a minimum of 75% of hours should be worked during the 8-5, M-F time periods.
