Are you ready to join Rivian’s Electrical Hardware team? Rivian vehicles contain a Vehicle Access System (VAS) that allows the user to unlock/enter the vehicle, exit/lock the vehicle, permits the user to operate the vehicle. The present system uses a combination of technologies to communicate to either the user’s mobile phone or a Rivian provided keyfob. Responsibilities Review existing and upcoming RF technologies Implement identified technologies and measure key metrics Demonstration of how this technology will improve the Rivian user experience Challenge assumptions and be an advocate for best practices     Discover your potential with cross-functional partnerships and be an asset to your leadership team   Qualifications Must be currently pursuing a bachelors, masters, or PhD degree in Engineering, and actively enrolled at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Knowledge in RF radio technology, required. Working with RF antenna technology, required. Must have experience with DOE (Design of Experiments), data collection and analyses. Lab and field experimentation/measurement of selected RF technologies, required. Understanding of low power modes, preferred. RF simulation experience, preferred. Some manual labor to to equip Rivian vehicles for experimentation and measurement, required. Understanding of what other technologies may be relevant for Vehicle Access Systems, preferred. Coursework in material science and machine learning, preferred Completed coursework in logic design, computer architecture, data structuers and algorithms, required. Completed at least two undergraduate courses in circuit theory, CMOS VLSI design, required. Must be available 10-20 hours per week in the fall and spring, and 40 hours in the summer. FrostDefense is actively searching for two enthusiastic graduate students, with a preference for those pursuing a Ph.D., to become valuable additions to our team. These positions are ready for an immediate start and are slated to continue until June 2024, with an expected weekly commitment of approximately 10 hours per intern. Our company, FrostDefense Envirotech Inc., has pioneered innovative technology designed to mitigate spring frost damage in vineyards and orchards. Additionally, we have developed a decision support system that aids growers in the application of our product and assists them in making informed decisions regarding frost risk mitigation on their farms. The interns will play a crucial role in this area. To ensure the success of these positions, we are seeking candidates with the following qualifications: Desired Skills and Experience: Educational Background: A background in mathematics, statistics or similar. Crop sciences,  and or biology would be a significant asset. Knowledge and Experience in:  experimental design and analysis, statistical modeling and analysis, risk analysis, and decision-making. Familiarity with climate data science will be a valuable advantage. Programming Skills:  in Python, R, or similar programming languages is preferred. Team descriptions: Data: The Data Science team deals with vast volumes of data using modern tools and techniques to find unseen patterns, derive meaningful information, and make informed decisions. App Development: The application development team focuses on designing, building, and implementing software applications for many internal Ameren projects Technology: The technology team will work in the physical space to implement innovative battery, solar and robotic technology to contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions for our customers. iOps: The iOps team leads the internal side of the iCenter and removes all barriers that the other teams may face. Marketing the iCenter to potential applicants and internal management falls under the job description for the iOps team. All teams deal with real problems and situations that help Ameren become more innovative as a company.
