Your Responsibilities Primarily focus on defining how robots behave in mowing applications by guiding software & hardware development and implementation for one of Deere’s robotic platforms. You will be responsible for the creation and deployment of behaviors from concept through implementation and testing. This includes researching state of the art approaches, early prototyping, integration into the software stack, and debugging on the hardware using various testing techniques around mathematical models and algorithms, image processing, vehicle control, as well as other areas in robotic systems. You will work in a fun, friendly, and fast paced environment consisting of team members with various backgrounds and engineering disciples. Projects are operated in the Agile environment and one will need to be able to handle multiple projects at any given time. You will also be required to present your findings in onsite or off-site meetings and translate your findings/data into understandable documents. What It Takes Experience with conducting testing at a detailed level. Experience in classification & tracking or sensor fusion algorithms. Experience in vehicle dynamics and robotic control. Experience with planning and perception algorithms. Experience with performance engineering techniques. Strong Mechanical engineering focus. Strong hardware & software fundamentals (iteration, data structure, object oriented programming, testing.) Must be registered as a full-time student at a local university Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis PhD, MS or BS in a STEM related field or equivalent experience. Graduation date May 2022 – requirement of the program is you are available to work a minimum of 12 months prior to graduation. Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above 16 – 20 hours/week during the academic year 35 – 40 hours/week during the academic year A Strong Candidate Will Also Have Experience using Robotic Operations System (ROS). Proficient experience utilizing various sensor hardware and software. Experience conducting detailed testing techniques. Proficient in Matlab, or Simulink Strong social and verbal/written/presentational skills. This includes working with peers, managers, and cross-functional teams.
