RIPE is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research, and the UK Government’s Department for International Development.

FruitVaccine is developing an edible vaccine administered via fruit (e.g., cherry tomatoes) which will immunize against the human respiratory syncytial virus (hRSV). All humans, especially infants and the elderly, are susceptible to the flu-like infectious disease which mainly affects the lower respiratory system. Currently, the market has neither an hRSV vaccine nor a fruit-based vaccine.
