About EarthSense EarthSense is creating dramatic new possibilities for crop breeders, plant protection product developers, crop scientists, and field agronomists. TerraSentia, the company’s first robot, improves the quantity, accuracy, cost, and speed of in-field plant trait data collection, specifically for under canopy plants. EarthSense machine vision and machine learning-based analytics seamlessly convert field data to specific, actionable information about plant-traits. EarthSense graduated from the EnterpriseWorks Incubator and moved to its current office in 2021. About the Role As a Robot Prototyping Intern, you will work closely with EarthSense’s engineering and design teams to assist in the development and testing of robotic prototypes. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of robotics and contribute to real-world projects. Responsibilities Contribute to the design, development, and fabrication of innovative robotic prototypes Collaborate with engineering teams to create, modify, and refine CAD models and technical drawings conduct testing and experimentation to assess the performance, functionality, and durability of prototypes Assist in the assembly and integration of electronic components, sensors, and actuators into robotic systems maintain detailed documentation of the prototyping process, including design revisions, test results, and troubleshooting efforts Support procurement and sourcing of parts, ensuring timely availability of necessary components participate in team meetings to provide updates on project progress, identify challenges, and offer ideas for continuous improvement Assist with research on emerging technologies and materials that could enhance robotic development Qualifications Currently pursuing a degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field Strong understanding of robotics principles, mechanical design, and electronics proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks is preferred, AutoCAD and familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, C++)) Hands-on experience with prototyping tools and equipment, such as 3D printers, CNC machines, and soldering tools, is a plus Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively Job Perks Hands-on experience in a dynamic and innovative robotics company Mentorship from experienced engineers and industry professionals Opportunities to contribute to meaninful projects Flexible working hours and a supportive internship environment Interested candidates should submit their resume and cover letter outlining their interest in the position and relevant experience to michael@earthsense.co. Key Responsibilities  Assist in creating and delivering engaging training programs, including e-learning, virtual and in-person sessions. Design online learning content using instructional design principles and support LMS administration (uploading content, tracking participation, and reporting). Coordinate and facilitate professional development programs (annual leadership conference and virtual learning sessions) and technical programs (online learning). Manage the intake and evaluation of training requests and support learning program logistics.
