Position Summary:

We are seeking PhD Computer Engineering or Computer Science student at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to support a key Abbott initiative to work with us to further understand the current landscape of AI in Healthcare (both on the software and infrastructure side)  As we explore the role of “AI in Healthcare” currently and in the future we are looking for a student-intern to support this important effort to ultimately allow Abbott businesses to continue to achieve our overarching goal of helping our customers live “Life to the Fullest”.   

Examples of the type of support this role can provide to Abbott businesses: 

  • Landscape current commercial utilization and application of AI in Healthcare 
  • Overlap current applications with applicable University of Illinois initiatives 
  • Work with Abbott team to develop and prioritize opportunities going forward for Abbott to advance in this space 

What We Offer To Our Student Employees: 

  • Part-time employment with Abbott at our UIUC Research Park area office  
  • Minimum of 8-10 hrs per week and maximum of 19 hrs per week  
  • Competitive hourly wage

Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a PhD student in Computer Engineering or Computer Science 
  • Any additional training in statistics is a plus 
  • Prospective interns must have an attention to detail, be an effective communicator, and have excellent verbal/written English language skills 
  • Must also be a self-motivated problem-solver that can work effectively independently 

Start Date/Duration: Spring/Summer Semester 2024 with potential to continue beyond.
