We were pleased to host a successful Research Park Mobile Day event on January 31, 2013. We had record attendance with an estimated 250 people in attendance. It was impressive to see so many companies want to participate and learn through the peer exchange. Speakers included large corporations, startup companies, faculty, students, and alumni from Chicago. The Daily Illini wrote about the event: http://www.dailyillini.com/news/local/article_3835c5ee-8c71-11e3-b652-0017a43b2370.html, including commentary from John Deere, who sponsored the event. John Reid, director of product technology and innovation for John Deere, described how the event has been beneficial for his company “There’s a lot of commonality amongst the various companies and industries and you get a sense of what a huge opportunity this is,” he said. “We sponsored this to try to bring our people together around the technology.” A total of 17 companies spoke at this year’s event with speakers from St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Moline, Bloomington, Peoria, etc… reflecting a regional opportunity for the University of Illinois to play in convening expertise around the trend of mobile development.
