Inspirit IoT, a faculty-founded EnterpriseWorks tenant, has been named on Forbes’ Top 20 IoT Startups to Watch in 2020. According to Forbes, “what makes this startup noteworthy is their expertise with sensor intelligence analytics intended to accelerate the machine learning performance of IoT hardware.”

Inspirit IoT was founded in 2016 by Deming Chen, professor in electrical and computer engineering as well as computer science here at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Chen and his co-founders, Dr. Kyle Rupnow and Swathi Gurumani, joined the Advanced Digital Sciences Center of Singapore’s incubator in 2011 before being commercialized in June 2016 at EnterpriseWorks.

Inspirit IoT is committed to making worksites safer through the application of real-time artificial intelligence at the edge. These solutions evaluate worker-machine interactions, keep out zones, and more in real time, and they provide actionable and auditable information provided back to the client.

These AI solutions are developed, tuned, and deployed with the use of proprietary tools that fit complex neural network inference capabilities into compressed memory footprints, enabling the use of energy and cost efficient systems for real-time edge computing.

Another recent accomplishment by Inspirit IoT includes being selected to participate in Plug and Play’s Internet of Things Accelerator Program in 2019.
