Four CU Companies Named Among Ten Startups to Watch Outside of Chicago

CHAMPAIGN, IL, December 8, 2015 – Yesterday, ChicagoInno released a list of 10 startups to watch in Illinois based outside Chicago. Of the ten, four companies are based right here in Champaign-Urbana.

OceanComm was named one of the oil and gas industry’s most promising technologies in May and was the first Champaign-Urbana based company to be mentioned in the article. OceanComm is a current EnterpriseWorks tenant and has developed a high-speed wireless underwater modem which enables wireless video streaming underwater and wireless remote control of underwater vehicles.

Agrible, an EnterpriseWorks graduate and Research Park company, was mentioned as one of the fastest growing companies in Research Park growing from a staff of less than 10 to one of nearly 50 in less than a year. Agrible is s a big data technology and data products company, focused on providing innovative science that farmers and ag companies can use easily every day to improve their production with cloud-based delivery systems.

Intelliwheels is an EnterpriseWorks tenant in the business of providing independent mobility to wheelchair users around the world. The company recently won the Champaign-Urbana InnovateHER competition.

Quicket Solutions is an EnterpriseWorks tenant that provides cloud-based, mission critical solutions for law enforcement and other public safety agencies. The company has just raised $1 million and was a winner of the Amazon Web Services City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge this month.

Other cities mentioned in the list were Rochelle, Rockford, Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, and Naperville.
