Common Ground Publishing was notified in June that the Institute of Education Sciences awarded them two 2010 Fast-Track (Phase I and II) SBIR Awards totaling $1.7 Million in funding. The awards are for:

1) The Learning Element: A lesson planning and curriculum documentation tool for teachers

2) u-learn.net: An anywhere/anytime formative assessment and learning feedback environment.

The Principal Investigator is UI Education Department Research Professor and company founder, Bill Cope. Common Ground Publishing is located in EnterpriseWorks and received assistance from SAIC in the Research Park in seeking this award through The Innovation Challenge Technical Assistance Grant program funded by the State of Illinois. Common Ground creates knowledge communities that meet in person at annual conferences. Community members also stay connected during the year between conferences as online knowledge communities—through both formal, academic publishing processes (peer review journal and book publishing, and presentations on our YouTube channel), and informal conversations which continue through blogs, monthly email newsletters, as well as Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr feeds.
