Position Description

The AbbVie Innovation Center (AIC) is seeking visual designers to work with a variety of AbbVie internal businesses on a range of creative projects.  This role would serve in a consulting capacity at AbbVie by meeting with internal clients and providing visual design services. While the specific skills and duties would vary by project, the ideal candidate would have a range of skillsets and a proven track record delivering high-quality products. Candidates with experience working with clients, video editing and illustration experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidate would work with internal AbbVie clients:

  • Designing logos and visual elements for the AIC and other AbbVie business units
  • Creating layouts and visual elements for print and electronic media including websites, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and reports
  • Illustrating or creating infographics and other visual designs
  • Recording, animating, and editing videos from illustrated, graphic, or live footage
  • Able to work creatively within corporate brand guidelines to ensure a consistent voice and brand across communication and messaging channels, both internal and external to AbbVie

 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be registered as a full-time student
  • Must be able to commit to a regular schedule during standard business hours
  • Undergraduate student in Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Art & Design or related fields
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
  • Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship
  • 35-40 hours/week during the summer and 12 – 15 hours/week during the fall and winter-spring terms
  • Mastery of graphic design software and applications (Adobe Creative Suite, CorelDRAW, Photopea, Canva, etc.)
  • Mastery of video editing software and applications
  • Ability to evaluate choices critically, with the customer needs in mind
  • Ability to communicate design choices clearly
  • Great multi-tasking skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Demonstrated portfolio showing creative, design, and software skills. Please include link to portfolio in your resume and/or application materials

Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin as soon as possible with an option to continue through academic year 2022-2023 and into the summer.

The AbbVie Innovation Center (AIC), located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, provides an opportunity for students and organizations throughout AbbVie to collaborate on projects that help advance our science. During the regular fall and spring semesters, this program is designed for students to work 12-15 hours/week in parallel with their school schedule.
