Ascent is a venture-backed startup building the unifying dashboard for high-intensity, small unit tactics. We provide actionable insight on the health, environment, and location of Firefighters, SWAT, and Warfighters.

We’re a 20 member strong UIUC team based in Chicago, with an additional office located in the University of Illinois Research Park. We recently closed our second round of capital and have large government contracts, so we are looking to hire full-time team members.

Our new location in Chicago is located in the heart of Fulton Market. Located near the United Center, Fulton Market has a vibrant nightlife as well as opportunities to explore the arts and culture of the area. Our office is located in an old Chicago Fire Department building, and includes free street parking.

Overview of the role

We are looking for a full time Recruiter to help develop and grow our team. In this role you will be working closely with the Operations Manager as well as the rest of the team. Your main role will be to focus on the recruitment process as well as certain aspects of human resources.

You will leverage sourcing tools and out of the box creative sourcing strategies to identify and engage with passive and active candidates. You will be in charge of attending career fairs for Ascent, as well as any other recruitment events. In addition, you will review candidates from a holistic perspective and conduct pre-screen interviews.

You will facilitate candidate debriefs with the team and work with team members to identify hiring needs. In addition, you will manage talent pools, proactively engaging and building pipelines to support the business. Further, you will assist the Operations Manager in various aspects of human resources including, but not limited to, maintaining workplace safety and compliance.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Human Resources, Communications, Business, Psychology, or equivalent
  • 2 to 4 years of Technical Recruitment Experience
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with an applicant management system
  • Experience managing a CRM
  • Excellent sourcing skills with the ability to use numerous creative techniques and channels to identify quality candidates, including social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting tech for a startup
