This position is not available to students on immigration visas.

The Part-Time Student Program is primarily designed to augment the Company’s regular full-time staff and is for students who work in parallel to their school schedule YEAR-ROUND.

Responsibilities

As a Part Time Student – Data Science and Analytics for John Deere located in Austin, TX, Urbandale, IA, or Champaign, IL, you will…

  • Lead and/or support key data science and analytics projects for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group
  • Utilize analytics techniques to clean, preprocess, explore, and analyze data sets and extract actionable insights
  • Collaborate in a fun, friendly, and fast-paced team environment across disciplines and with key stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions for the business
  • Present your findings in meetings and translate your results into reports and presentations
  • Committed to working in an Agile-based environment

Qualifications

  • Experience with Python and SQL programming languages
  • School and/or work experience analyzing text and/or numerical data
  • Experience with applied statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms
  • Available to work during the academic year 16-20 hours/weekly during the business hours of 6 AM to 6 PM
  • Available to work during the summer semester 35-40 hours/weekly during the business hours of 6 AM to 6 PM
  • Must be able to commute to the John Offices in Urbandale, IA, Champaign, IL, or Austin, TX at least once a week, on a regular basis year-round
  • Pursuing a Master’s or PhD Degree in an analytical discipline including but not limited to Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Math, or Statistics
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at a U.S. accredited college/university
  • Graduation date of spring of 2026 or later
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 or above

What Makes You Stand Out

  • Experience using PySpark for distributed data processing and analysis
  • Exposure to data engineering principles and practices, including data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts
  • Understanding of MLOps principles and experience with deploying and monitoring machine learning models in production environments
  • Knowledge of AI concepts, LLMs and Foundational Models
  • Experience working with the Databricks platform, including notebooks, clusters, and Delta Lake
  • Experience applying computer vision techniques to machine learning problems
  • Experience working with geospatial data formats, including satellite imagery and rasters

$15 – $40 hourly based on published rates for business function and education level.
