The Digital Media Intern will play an active role in the research and development of the Community – the social media application of the CGScholar platform. This is a hands-on internship: you will use Community to help create and publish content that is relevant to our Research Network members. At the same time, you will assess the functionality and effectiveness of Community, within the broader scholarly communication landscape, and recommend product features and development opportunities. Finally, under the guidance of the Chief Social Scientist, you will summarize your research, experience, and actions in a white paper report.

*The term of this internship can be tailored to you, but one semester the minimum

Responsibilities

  • Key responsibilities may involve, but may not be limited to:
  • Analyzing data to make informed marketing decisions
  • Using data to flag risks and opportunities to the business
  • Creating advertising elements
  • Identifying new opportunities
  • Executing web strategy
  • Facilitating research and development of creative content
  • Develop a communication plan to promote the platform

Ideal Candidate

  • Currently enrolled or have recently completed a bachelors or masters degree
  • Majors in marketing, business, statistics, advertising, or economics preferred
  • Interest in digital marketing, digital media, and front-end web development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to research and understand technical documents
  • Focus on achieving defined results, by being detail-oriented and exceeding goals and objectives
  • Ability to multitask, switch priorities, collaborate with colleagues to ensure brand consistency.
  • Experience working with Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google AdWords, HTML and paid social platforms
  • Knowledge of copy editing, social media outreach, blogging, HTML, CSS
  • Knowledge of best practices for user experience (UX), user interface (UI) and responsive design
  • Interest in researching new trends in web design and technology
  • Strong knowledge of web applications and basic CMS software
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment while working with a diverse team
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of change while constantly adapting and evolving with our organization
