Webster, McGrath & Ahlberg (WMA) was established in 1906 by Arthur Lake Webster. Today, the company employs professional engineers, surveyors and landscape architects, enabling it to provide complete civil engineering, land surveying and construction layout services for clients across the Midwest.
WMA launched its Champaign Office at Research Park in 2024. The office specializes in site development services, stormwater design, and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis.
About the Role
The company is seeking creative problem-solvers to provide civil engineering support for a variety of educational, commercial, and residential projects across the Midwest. Opportunities include compensated part- or full-time summer internships at the Champaign Office location.
Interns are provided wide exposure to the engineering consulting field, training with engineering drafting and software tools, and mentoring and support through the small WMA team.
Responsibilities

Regular use of computer-aided drafting software.

Preparation of report exhibits and other supporting documentation.

Support for engineering analyses using Excel and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling applications.

Online training to learn position-related skills.

Daily coordination with the WMA team.

Typical clients include colleges, municipalities, and private developers.
Qualifications

An undergraduate student pursuing a degree in civil engineering OR a graduate student pursuing a master’s degree in civil engineering with a focus in water resources engineering and science.

Interest in site development and hydrology/hydraulics.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
