About the Role
ChatGPT, Grounded SAM2, and other cutting-edge AI solutions are transforming the landscape of AI work. EarthSense is looking for an engineering student to experiment with these state-of-the-art AI tools with its robots. The ideal candidate will have experience with machine learning, PyTorch, computer vision, LLMs, and Vision Language Models (VLMs). Experience with projects in the AI field is a must.
Responsibilities
- Review the recent AI literature in vision, generative AI, and robotics
- Identify promising areas of research
- Experiment with state-of-the-art AI approaches on EarthSense’s robots
- Contribute to the Vision Team under the supervision of the Lead Computer Vision Engineer
Qualifications
- Education: Pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph. D. in engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
- Experience: Experience with prior internships and AI projects preferred
- Technical Skills
- Python, PyTorch
- ROS/ROS2
- Git, Linux, Docker
- Computer Vision
- Familiarity with robotics and navigation is a plus
- Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and perform in challenging environments
- Strong documentation and communication skills
