The June Site Selection Magazine Life Sciences Report featured Abbott’s decision to locate in the University of Illinois Research Park and includes photos of the iCyt Building. This article was based on the BioParks event in Chicago on 5/1/10, where Dr. Robert Miller Divisional VP for Global Research and Development at Abbott Nutrition, was a keynote speaker.


Illini Prosthetics returned this week after spending ten days in Guatamala field testing their prosthetic arm prototypes, getting to know patients, and building a network within the Guatemalan healthcare system for eventual distribution. They have been working in special collaboration with the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) at their clinic in Zacapa, Guatemala. The trip provided insights to patient use and the need for custom fitting, and also brought successful fittings of their prototypes that even enabled amputees to write using their arm.


Illumia Corporation is a new safety and risk consulting business that provides Safety Culture measurement services. The team’s work in this area began in the mid 1990s and grew with the assistance of grants to the University of Illinois from the Federal Aviation Administration and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, to develop tools to measure the culture of safety and risk and apply them in distributed environments.


July 5, 2010 (West Chicago, Illinois) – RiverGlass Inc. today announced an agreement with The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA), granting exclusive license rights to resell RiverGlass software to the U. S. Federal and State and international government agencies, treaty organizations and port authorities.


Ping Pong Tournament planned: John Deere and Yahoo staff are interested in organizing a ping pong tournament in July have tables and Deere has suggested starting a tournament. 


004 Technologies was featured in the e-commerce section of the News-Gazette. 004 is an e-commerce firm based in Germany with its first US location in the University of Illinois Research Park. 004 specializes in everything from developing a website to project management, marketing, customer service and fulfillment. Working in the Research Park allowed the company to take advantage of the rich talent pool offered by the University’s computer science program.
