CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- IntelliWheels, Inc., a startup that develops technology to improve mobility options for wheelchair users, has announced it has secured more than $500,000 in funding. It has received venture capital funding from Champaign-based Serra Ventures and San Francisco-based Crestlight Venture Productions; additional support from the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance (NCIIA) through its Venture Well LLC subsidiary; and angel investors from the Champaign -Urbana community.

Pattern Insight was founded by former University of Illinois Computer Science professor YY Zhou and the company's first employee was Jed Taylor, who now advises EnterpriseWorks clients as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. Pattern Insight was located at EnterpriseWorks from 2007 to 2011. Pattern Insight is a data mining technology company that enables real-time analysis of source code, changing how software-intensive products are developed, tested and supported. Log Insight, a log analytics product, aims at management and real time operational analytics for IT data regardless of scale.

On August 8, EnterpriseWorks and Intelliwheels will be hosting a reception for all the Illini who will be competing in this summer’s Paralympic Games. The reception will be hosted in the EnterpriseWorks atrium and food and drinks will be served.

ImmuVen (www.immuven.com) was awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant totaling $1.68 million from the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIH) for continuing development of its therapeutic pipeline (IMV0123) against superantigens produced by methicillin-sensitive and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcal aureus. This award continues the work previously supported by a successfully completed Phase I SBIR grant.
