About the Role

The intern will work closely with the StructureIQ team on the development of the next generation of our wireless smart sensor solutions for monitoring civil infrastructure such as buildings, bridges, and tunnels. The focus of the internship will be on the testing and evaluation of new hardware components and IoT platforms, sourcing of components, and integration with existing StructureIQ solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Review available options for hardware components meeting project requirements
  • Assess sourcing of components and compatible alternatives from multiple vendors (cost, lead time)
  • Modify existing PCB designs to accommodate new or changed components

Qualifications

  • Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Must be enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  • Must be available to work 25-40 hours during the summer
  • Located in Champaign-Urbana and able to work at StructureIQ’s Champaign office
  • Understanding of circuit design fundamentals, both digital and analog
  • Experience with EDA software such as Altium or KiCAD
  • Experience with low-power/embedded electronics preferred
