FruitVaccine is developing an edible vaccine administered via fruit (e.g., cherry tomatoes) which will immunize against the human respiratory syncytial virus (hRSV). All humans, especially infants and the elderly, are susceptible to the flu-like infectious disease which mainly affects the lower respiratory system. Currently, the market has neither an hRSV vaccine nor a fruit-based vaccine. This edible vaccine will be safer and more cost-effective than other vaccine forms and the FruitVaccine technology will be applicable to additional infectious diseases, and other fruits and plants.
