The RIPE Plant Transformation Facility provides lab and office space for Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency (RIPE). RIPE is a research project for sustainable increases in crop yield, led by Illinois researchers Steve Long and Don Ort. RIPE is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research, and the UK Governmentโs Department for International Development.
The new RIPE Greenhouse, a modern plant phenotyping facility, is located across the street. Operated by the College of ACES in collaboration with the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology.
