About the Research Park
The Research Park at the University of Illinois is a leading innovation hub for technology commercialization with a unique environment that cultivates startups and increases capabilities for established companies. The mixed-use composition promotes creative collisions and interdisciplinary collaborations, strengthening the bridge between campus and community.
The internal team at Research Park includes a small team of interns that manage communication, marketing, promotion, event planning, recruitment, and more for the Research Park as a University unit and as a whole.
About the Role
The Research Park is hiring a Graphic Design Intern to collaborate with diverse individuals in a team-oriented environment and apply your graphic design skills to a wide variety of projects. We’re looking for a talented student studying graphic design who loves working in both print and digital formats. On our team, you will have the opportunity to work on meaningful, high-impact projects.
The Graphic Design Intern is responsible for designing art and layouts to further marketing plans and design concepts for various events, campaigns and promotions. Project plans and details will determine the print, electronic and additional deliverables needed for each
specific effort. The Graphic Design Intern maintains consistency and adheres to university/Research Park branding guidelines.
Past graphic design projects have included pop-up banners, wall graphics, print and digital ads, video graphics, large-scale exterior and/or interior building signage, social media graphics, swag, company logo creation, and more.
Requirements
- Must be a full-time enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign at the time of employment
- Graduation date of December 2025 or later
- Ability to start training in March 2025 (5-7 hours per week)
- Applicants must be available to work full-time hours on-site throughout Summer 2025 (37.5 hours per week)
- This role has the potential to continue in Fall 2025 (10-15 hours per week)
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Ability to work in Microsoft PowerPoint presentation software
- Experience in many different types of design, such as print and digital
- Ability to quickly solve new design problems
- Strong layout and typography skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and balance multiple projects
- Ability to work on short deadlines
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to clearly and consistently communicate with management on project status
Additional Qualifications
- Experience with campus printing services
- WordPress experience
