Innovate@Illinois Episode #8: Student Entrepreneurship Programs

In the eighth episode of Innovate at Illinois, Andy Singer highlights the variety of resources available to student entrepreneurs on the University of Illinois campus and in the Champaign-Urbana community. Stephanie Larson talks with the Program Specialist and a Student Leader from the Innovation Living and Learning Community, a new dorm for student entrepreneurs that offers courses in entrepreneurship and a garage as a workshop space for students. This residence hall program brings together students at the Illinois Street Residence Halls in a way to encourage innovation and brainstorming. Danyelle Michelini introduces us to Illinois Launch, a new venture pipeline to help students get their ideas up and running manages by the Academy for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the College of Business. This interview features Chantelle Hougland from Visual Information Technologies, ZingZag, located at EnterpriseWorks. Finally, the show takes a look at the Cozad New Venture Competition, held annually at the University of Illinois. This business plan competition helps students garner resources and funding to fuel their business ventures. This show includes highlights of the 2011 finals, including clips of the winners and the experience of the judges.
