Toronto, ON – September 29, 2010 – Infobright, whose high performance database is the preferred choice for analytic applications and data marts, today announced that they have opened a new satellite office in the Enterprise Works facility at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Research Park. Led by Infobright’s new community manager, Jeff Kibler, the office will focus on Infobright’s open source community development, taking advantage of the technical expertise, resources and opportunities for collaborative research made available by UIUC.

Kibler holds a bachelor in Computer Science degree as well as a Masters of Business Administration, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Most recently, he served as the program manager for data quality in Yahoo’s audience data pipeline. He has presented key findings and strategies developed through his work to academic and industrial forums at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s Data Sciences Summer Institute and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Data Quality Industry Symposium.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is one of the top computer science schools in the country. The onsite Research Park where the Infobright office is located has long attracted Fortune 500 companies thanks to the wealth of nearby IT talent and resources. Infobright’s office will focus on Infobright® Community Edition (ICE), the company’s open source analytic database and user community. Five UIUC student interns, under the leadership of Kibler, will be charged with developing innovative new applications that will work in conjunction with ICE to help users take greater advantage of critical business data. The team will also leverage social media and other networking tools to attract new users and grow the ICE community.

“As the community that created the first web browser (Mosaic) and home of the fastest supercomputer in the world, UIUC has established a strong reputation for strength in the software and data industry. We proudly welcome Infobright to the Research Park at the University, which will provide access to a student workforce, University engagement, and a strong IT community,” said Laura Frerichs, Associate Director of Research Park and incubation facilities.

“The University of Illinois has a rich background in the development of next generation technologies for data management and analytics,” said Don DeLoach, President and CEO of Infobright. “We look forward to becoming a part of this vibrant academic and technological environment and to strengthening and expanding the reach of ICE.”
