AWARE POC Grants Helps Entrepreneurs in Underrepresented Groups Get Started

WCIA 3 News interviewed Becky Fuller and Nina Kshetry, two entreprenurs whose startups have made it through the first round of funding for the AWARE POC grant. 

The AWARE (Accelerating Women And underRepresented Entrepreneurs) program is a collaboration among the College of Engineering, the Office of Technology Management, and the EnterpriseWorks incubator at the University of Illinois Research Park, and is being funded by a  $100,000 award from the National Science Foundation to support entrepreneurship training, counseling, and networking. The goal of the AWARE (Accelerating Women And underRepresented Entrepreneurs) POC grant program is to provide participants funding that will enable them to build a viable prototype that will accelerate commercialization.

Becky Fuller has launched Fish InSight, an app allowing anglers to pick a lure, type of water, depth and distance to figure out what works best to get their catch of the day. Ensaras, founded by, Nina Kshetry, helps wastewater treatment plants better analyze their data.
