Madelyn Walters started out as one of Granular's first employees when Granular opened up a new regional headquarters in the Research Park, she is now this week's tech difference maker in the Champaign-Urbana area for her work as a Product Manager at Granular, after having worked her way up from Customer Success Manager.

Jacob Kreider, engineering director at Granular, is the latest Research Park affiliate featured on The News-Gazette's Wired In, which highlights different high-tech difference makers in the community each week. 

Granular is an agriculture software company that helps farmers manage large farms with pinpointed date for more accurate business decisions. The company is based in San Francisco but has it's regional headquarters at the Research Park in Champaign. It was recently acquired by DuPont, a science and engineering company with a focus in agriculture and nutrition.

August 9, 2017: DuPont, a world-renowned science and engineering company that focuses on agriculture and nutrition, advanced materials, and bio-based industrials, has aquired Granular, a San Francisco agriculture software company that has its regional headquarters at the University of Illinois Research Park.

This week, Research Park ag-tech company Granular was recognized on the Forbes list of 25 Most Innovative Ag-Tech Startups. Forbes narrowed down the top 25 startups by, "surveying the argicultural technology landscape by speaking with experts, venture capitalists and accelerators; then, examining financials and each company's agricultural credentials."

Agrible and Granular were recently recognized on THRIVE 50, an annual list created by SVG Partners that ranks the best AgTech companies in the United States.

Agrible is a homegrown organization that first started at the EnterpriseWorks incubator. They focus on providing farmers with the tools and science to improve production with cloud-based delivery systems. The company has since moved to a different building, but are still located at Research Park. Agrible received praise in the "Big Data and Analytics" category of the THRIVE 50 list.

CHAMPAIGN— The News-Gazette's Paul Wood interviewed Landon Frye, the market manager of Granular, for his Wired In column. Granular is a software and analytics platform that helps farmers operate more efficiently and make better business decisions about efficiency, yields and profits while managing their environmental footprint. Granular is joining forces with other agriculture brands like John Deere to grow their company.
