We were thrilled to host Glenn Shimkus, Vice President of Real Estate solutions for DocuSign, as he discussed his experiences and wisdom regarding start-ups. Shimkus currently leads DocuSign's product team for the real estate industry and is tasked with leading the organization's move into digital transaction management. He's been an active member of the local tech scene for over 20 years and is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has founded three companies and been apart of two other startups over the past decade. Cartavi, his most recent venture which he co-founded in 2009, was acquired by DocuSign in May of 2013. He and his co-founder bootstrapped Cartavi for more than three years, successfully raised a small round of venture capital, were approached by several companies to be acquired, and eventually sold the company to DocuSign to accelerate the growth of Cartavi's product and move into other industries. Shimkus is considered a thought leader in the real estate technology space and is a regular speaker at real estate conferences, recently having presented to Congressional members and their staff on behalf of the National Association of REALTORS. He is a recognized expert in document management, mobile applications, and cloud computing with a passion for design and usability. Glenn has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Real Estate by Inman News and one of the 200 Most Powerful and Influential People in Real Estate by New York Times Best Selling Author Stefan Swanepoel. Cartavi has also received many accolades including being named "Best In Tech for Real Estate" in 2013 by Agent Magazine for the 2nd straight year; a "Top 50 Real Estate Tech Solutions" by HousingWire; and a finalist for "Most Innovative Technology" in real estate for 2013 by Inman News.
