NEW RESEARCH PARK TENANTS

Monsanto Celebrates Opening of New Innovation Center 
Monsanto (NYSE: MON), a global agriculture company headquartered in St. Louis, and The Climate Corporation, a subsidiary of Monsanto, have opened the Monsanto Innovation Center at the University of Illinois Research Park. When fully staffed, the Monsanto Innovation Center will employ more than two dozen students who will enhance and augment a robust agricultural innovation portfolio with additional enabling capabilities like IT, data science and engineering. The Monsanto Innovation Center is located in 1904 Innovation Center on the first floor. AGCO Opens Acceleration Center in Research Park
The University of Illinois and AGCO (NYSE: AGCO) announced January 25 the opening of the AGCO Acceleration Center at University of Illinois Research Park. The Acceleration Center will advance technology innovation for AGCO’s grain, seed processing, swine and poultry production equipment brands, which include GSI, Cimbria, AP and Cumberland. At the Center, University of Illinois undergraduate and graduate students will be employed year-round to further the company’s capabilities in areas such as data science, web and mobile development, and machine learning. AGCO is located in 2001 S. Brunswick Officially Opens Illini Joint Explorations in Technology Lab
Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) recently celebrated the grand opening of new quarters for what has been known as the Brunswick Innovation Laboratory in the Research Park at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. But with its new building, the lab also now has a new name - the Brunswick I-JET Lab. I-JET Lab is the first tenant in the new Mixed Use Building at 1904 S. NEW ENTERPRISEWORKS AFFILIATES

Agricultural Capital Advisors (ACA): College of ACES faculty Bruce Sherrick is building out a loan sourcing and matching service along with automated desktop appraisal technologies for agriculture to take advantage of modern information technologies that exist in other lending platforms but that have thus far remained isolated in agricultural markets.

drgnFLI: Founded by two members of the C-U community, drgnFLI is a financial technology startup democratizing investment strategy and financial literacy to the people by employing cutting edge machine learning techniques to help potential investors make the best possible choices.

Hybrid Information Technologies (HIT): Founded by School of Architecture faculty, Abbas Aminmansour, HIT specializes in developing online tools in structural engineering for both academic and professional practice communities. HIT’s software allows users of all levels to design structural components intuitively and intelligently with outputs that are not available with any other software.

Lateral Labs & Research: University of Illinois at Chicago alum, Mat Bujalski, and his partner Dr. Izabela Zawisza have founded Lateral Labs which develops and distributes cosmetics and cosmeceuticals. Their focus is bringing cutting edge research to provide cosmetics with powerful health and beauty benefits. Their first product prevents allergic skin reactions to nickel.

Founders tell Smile Politely that their long term goal, “is to not only create an edible RSV vaccine, but to develop many different edible vaccines for different viruses.” More here.

EarthSense Discusses Technology in Agrinews
EarthSense CEO and founder, Chinmay Soman sat down with Agrinews to discuss his company, and the new EarthSense robot, TerraSentia, that  provides field phenotyping from the ground level up.  More here.

EnterpriseWorks Graduate Building Major Manufacturing Facility in China 
HeyGears, an EnterpriseWorks student startup graduate, is building a 3D printing Research and Development facility in Guangdong, China. Formerly OmniEars, the company has created a range of five different in-ear products of wearable technology that operate through Bluetooth. More here

IntelinAir and Aptimmune Named Startups to Watch
EnterpriseWorks startups IntelinAir and Aptimmune were recently named two of seven Ag Tech start-ups to watch in 2018 by Agriculture.com. IntelinAir was founded in 2015 to help farmers make more cost-efficient and smart decisions based on aerial imagery. Aptimmune focuses solely on swine vaccines and the prevention of two major diseases: porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) and influenza. Read the full story here.

Agrible to Launch Retailer Services in 2018
Agrible is set to launch retailer services in the new year to meet market challenges head on. The new retailer services will provide a digital, two-way communication system for the agriculture community. SimBioSys Inspired by Fox Family Entrepreneurship Program
New EnterpriseWorks startup SimBioSys, Inc., was formed with ideas from Illinois PhD student doctoral research in computational biology that focuses on creating technology to peer into diseased tissues and see how cells interact. NSF I-Corps at Illinois Helps Startups Raise Over $42 Million in the Past Four Years
Over the course of four years, 120 NSF I-Corps program teams at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign have raised more than $42 million in external funding. These numbers, released by the Technology Entrepreneurship Center, reveal that $11 million has come from SBIR grants, $28 million from venture capitalists or angel investors, and $3 million from other sources. Read the full original story here.
