Position Summary:

We are seeking a University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) graduate student to support a project identifying and defining the use of enzymes for bioconjugation and other novel applications for in vitro diagnostics (IVD). The student will work with industry leading scientists developing next generation reagents in support of IVD assay development.

The Student Will Be Responsible For:

• Partnering with and advising Abbott staff members and scientists

• Identifying and describing the use of enzymes for bioconjugation. Review recent literature and identify industry trends. Develop recommendations and approaches for covalent attachment of organic molecules to protein and peptides.

• Must be enrolled as a student at UIUC

• Pursuing a PhD degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics or related field

• Able to work independently as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment

• Self-motivated problem solver that can lead a project from beginning to end

• Excellent verbal/written English language skills
