The AbbVie Innovation Center is located in the Research Park at the University of Illinois and provides an opportunity for students and AbbVie’s Research and Development IT group to collaborate on projects to help advance our science.

Position Description:
The Part-Time Student Program at the AbbVie Innovation Center, located in the Research Park, is designed to augment AbbVie’s regular staff, and is for students who are able to work in parallel to their school schedule. Major duties include:
• Working on user-centered and small workgroup small application projects that will be utilized throughout the company
• Developing small programs and components that will be used to solve problems in the Development business area
• Partnering with internal colleagues in advancing our technology platforms
• Incubating ideas into proof of concept/proof of value solutions

• Must be registered as a full-time student
• Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
• Undergraduate and Graduate students
• Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0, or equivalent
• Must be US citizen or permanent resident without requiring sponsorship
• 10 - 15 hours/week during the academic year
• 35 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
• Creative problem solver with ability to understand larger picture but who will focus on details
• Passion for turning thoughts into realities
• Familiarity with user research and usability testing methodologies to prioritize user needs to drive design priorities
• Ability to design and deliver clean and usable user interface prototypes for desktop and/or mobile solutions

Preferred Skills:
• JavaScript/JQuery
• Web development
• Familiarity with Oracle databases
• Familiarity with mobile application development
• Familiarity with machine learning concepts is desired

Note: The position will be hired through a third-party hiring agency and will begin as soon as possible over the fall semester 2017 with an option to continue through the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year.
