Your Responsibilities

As a Business Information Analyst at the John Deere Technology Innovation Center (JDTIC) you will conduct research for a wide variety of business and engineering/technical/agronomy needs.  You will utilize business databases and publicly available resources to research companies, technologies, and business issues.  You will synthesize this information and present it in professional reports or PowerPoint presentations.

  • Advanced search techniques to find information resources and the ability to evaluate these sources for validity and relevance
  • Ability to synthesize information and present it in formal reports that are well-written and visually appealing
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to learn advanced topics
  • Ability to conduct reference interviews
  • Ability to work autonomously while providing regular updates to team members

What Makes You Stand Out

Other areas of experience or interest that will help us place you on the right team include:

  • Experience using business databases (D&B Hoovers, PrivCo, etc.)
  • Experience using agriculture, science, and technology databases (IEEE, Web of Science, etc.)
  • Experience with patent searching and intellectual property issues
  • Knowledge of technology standards (ANSI, ASTM, SAE, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the agriculture or construction industry
  • Relevant coursework (iSchool)

What It Takes

  • Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:
    • Enrolled in a master’s program in Library & Information Science, Business, Communication, Agricultural Sciences, or related field
  • Must be registered as a full-time student at University of Illinois - Champaign
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or above 
  • 15 - 20 hours/week during the academic year
  • 30 - 40 hours/week during the summer semester
