The candidate is expected to work full-time starting no later than May, 2018. Location is in Caterpillar Champaign Simulation Center (1st Street). 

This is an engineer position that is responsible for working with customer business units to define, plan and execute statistical, predictive and prescriptive analytics project in product development, simulation and manufacturing domains. The projects vary from research to application, and require developing advanced analytics tools and processes. The person must be proficient in coding and well-versed with different software packages. The person will coordinate work with appropriate supervisors to manage multiple projects, and communicate project results to business partners in an effective and professional manner.

Job duties/responsibilities include, but not limited to:

·    Develop and deploy new predictive and prescriptive analytics software and processes

·    Collaborate with simulation, design, manufacturing, and test groups

·    Exhibit strong planning and organization, outstanding initiative

 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

·    Applicants must have a Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Science or Operations Research) with at least 3 years of industry experience in optimization technology, design of experiments, and statistics or data mining.

·    Applicants must be proficient with Python, MATLAB, C, or C++

·    Applicants must be familiar with design exploration, probabilistic analysis and uncertainty quantification methods

·    Applicants must have good knowledge of simulations for virtual product development, or manufacturing processes

 

Desired Qualifications

·    Familiarity with Machine Learning Algorithms with strong analytical skills

·    Basic knowledge of optimization algorithms (specifically linear and mixed-integer programming)

·    Familiar with MS Access or similar relational databases

·    Experience in earthmoving related industry and its products and processes

·    Strong technical and problem solving skills

·    A self-starter
