The AGCO Acceleration Center is looking for a highly talented Design Engineer intern to join our team at the Research Park for the Spring 2020 This person will work closely with the AGCO Protein Division to evaluate and optimize designs of existing processes to address customer needs and reduce cost, work on project teams to create new designs, and develop and review of current methods and standards.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in design engineering projects:

    • Communicate with engineers, engineering manager, and product management to understand and verify product requirements, including cost targets
    • Prepare concept, design, development, and feasibility studies of engineering projects
      • Includes performing design calculations and necessary analysis, which may include computer simulations
    • Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Creo
    • Build prototypes and coordinate and perform product tests on current production and prototypes
    • Troubleshoot mechanical problems

 

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Good understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and machine design
  • Basic understanding of electrical and sensor design
  • Preferably have experience with Creo modeling/drawing software
  • Experience in the poultry and swine industries would be a plus
  • Strategic and creative thinking
  • Solid team skills

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in mechanical engineering program or related technical field
  • Must be registered as a full-time student
  • Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Understanding and appreciation of mechanical design and engineering best practices
  • Strong time management and creative problem solving skills
  • Proficient in MS Office applications

 

Additional Details:

This is a paid, part-time internship for Spring 2020 at the AGCO Acceleration Center in the University of Illinois’ Research Park. Students are required to work 10-20 hours a week on-site at our office in Research Park.
