Research Park Softball League Registration Deadline
Play Ball! It’s time to break out the bats and gloves for the annual Research Park softball league. We are excited to have a league on Tuesday nights this summer at Dexter Field in Champaign (off Kenwood). The season will start on May 2; games will be from 6 to 10 p.m. (each game an hour long). The deadline to sign up your team is Friday, April 14, 2017. The deadline to sign up your team is FridayApril 14, 2017.  Please contact Angela Copenbarger (CopenbargerAngelaA@JohnDeere.com) to register your team – or two!

Food Trucks Return to Research Park

Illini Alerts – Get Signed Up
The Illini Alerts service enables the distribution of timely, critical, and specific information about University of Illinois campus emergency events.  Users subscribing to this service have multiple avenues for receiving this information. Employees of Research Park tenants are eligible to register to receive Illini Alert emails and texts. To receive them, you will need to receive a Net-ID. To get a Net ID via a Research Park affiliation, please contact lwbleill@illinois.edu to start the process.

About the Event: On April 18-19th, the Midwest Big Data Hub and the International Food Security At Illinois group are hosting the Machine Learning: Farm-To:Table workshop. All morning sessions are available to the public. The Machine Learning: Farm-to-Table Workshop is bringing together domain scientists to stimulate new data-driven R+D activity at the intersections of the Agriculture, Bioinformatics, Food-Energy-Water, and Food Security communities. About the Event: The campus-wide Entrepreneurship Forum is held each year, highlighting the breadth of entrepreneurial activities across campus for faculty, students, and academic professionals. This event allows attendees to participate in panel discussions, listen to keynote speeches by prominent members of the University of Illinois community and observe the announcement of the Cozad New Venture Competition and Illinois Innovation Prize winners. The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) announced the Top 18 finalists in the Cozad New Venture Competition. These students are competing for more than $150,000 in funding and in-kind prizes. The Top 18 Cozad Finalist Teams are: Autonomic Energy Systems, Dibbs, inContAlert invoq health, Lumos Industries Inc., Mesh++, OmniPilot, Optivolt Labs, LLC, PhantomCor, Pwr., Stackiverse, Steady, Therapalz, Trala, TransIAPI, Tweetsense, Vesti, and VR MD. Launch of Illinois Data Science Initiative (iDSI)
We are pleased to announce that the campus is undertaking a new effort – the Illinois Data Science Initiative (iDSI) – to explore how to better connect our faculty, staff, and students from nearly every discipline across the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to the Data Science skills, tools, and practitioners that they need to solve their problems. In its first year, iDSI is focusing on identifying challenges, opportunities, and potential collaborations through a series of campus-wide summits centered on core research themes. This work is intended to form the basis for a sustained effort serving the data science needs of the Illinois research community and its educational, governmental, and industrial partners. PygHack 2017
The Pygmalion Music & Tech Festival for 2017 is excited to launch PygHack, a hackathon event for tech professionals and students. The event will include a 24 hour hack to invent solutions to help the local community with innovative new technology. The event will take place at EnterpriseWorks and is being planned in coordination with Wolfram, Volition, Pixo, the Research Park, and the Pygmalion festival. Big Data Summit 2017
